IYO Restaurant reopens after a total restyling by Lai Studio | Maurizio Lai Architects. Claudio Liu’s restaurant, at number 74 via Piero della Francesca in Milan, has been renovated inside and in the spaces, which have been extended to 800 square metres. Distinguished as a restaurant of contemporary Japanese cuisine (also winning a Michelin Star), IYO has always combined the Japanese soul with Italian and Milanese style in particular.
The new project has accentuated this combination, developing a sophisticated interior, with a luxurious but discreet character, with attention to detail and a combination of materials, with a calibrated study of light. Poliform Contract first took care of the structural elements of the restaurant room, as well as the two rooms that can be rented for private events, and the lounge bar next to the entrance that were added to the project in the restyling phase: the ceiling panelling, the natural walnut wood flooring, the panelling and the partition panels were made with an alternation of materials that creates depth and chiaroscuro play in the environment, through the combination of wood, fabric, Murano glass, mirror and steel.
Poliform also provided the furnishings, which were custom made for the new IYO: square and round tables with Patagonia marble tops, with wooden inserts and steel bases, coffee tables that combine marble and steel, just like the cashier desk; chairs and armchairs covered in bouclé fabric and structure in black elm essence; and then also the wine cellar, the steel shelf units, the wooden sideboards with inserts, once again in marble and steel. Topping it all off is the lounge bar, designed entirely by Poliform Contract, from the spectacular steel counter to the seats and accessories, up to the panelling.
